Forum Name Cricket DiscussionLBW (leg before wicket) rule in cricketposted by - Unknown
Strange but not many people know what exactly is LBW rule in cricket played under ICC. Before giving a batsman out - leg before wicket - an umpire has to make sure of following rules before raising that deadly finger.. -Ball did not pitch outside the leg stump of batsman. -The batsman didn't hit the ball with bat before it hit the pad. -and of course, ball was going to hit the stumps. Not going over it or past it, but hitting it. Interestingly, this rule means that an off-spinner can pitch the ball much wider outside off stump and bring the ball into the batsman to get him out. But a leg spinner can't pitch the ball outside leg & get the lbw decision. Very recently, Muthiah Muralitharan has found a new way to get easy lbw decisions.. by bowling around the stumps, into the line of stumps & foll the batsman. Full story here but I hope you now are clear with basic rules of "leg before wicket rule" in cricket. 1 Commentsprabhabad Post a new Comment Filed underCricket Discussion - Start a New Topic
