Preview : from Quetta to Glasgow - 113 India vs Pakistan one day matches has been played so far & 63 has been won by Pakistan. 40 for India & rest were no results.

The 114th ODI between the arch-rival teams will be played at Guwahati - the first match of 5 ODI Indian Oil Cup. Shoaib Akhtar is back for Pakistan whereas Mohammad Asif has returned back home. India have recalled Virendra Sehwag back but his chances of playing this Guwahati ODI is dim. Read more of preview.

A Day 50 over match, scheduled to start at 0900hrs India time, 2.30 pm Melbourne time, 11.30 am Singapore/Malaysia and for more start times world wide - use a time converter.

Toss : Pakistan wins the toss and elects to bat. A surprizing decision as the match will be starting 30 minutes earlier than usual day matches.

Change from Dhoni - Irfan Pathan on in place of Zaheer inside 5 overs. He bowls a maiden.

-Little Correction in team composition - Imran Nazir is not playing and Left Arm Spinner Abdur Rehman is in.

End of 8th over : Pakistan 40 for 0. Salman Butt 28 off 26 & Kamran Akmal (risky, improvising) 10 from 22 balls. India look like pulling things back a bit, but intiative well and truly with Pakistan until they lose any wickets. Looking at the bounce on Nehru stadium pitch - this game might not see too bigger totals.

The ground is very small, around 70 meters at all the edges.

End of 12th Over : Irfan Pathan gets the break-though for India. Kamran Akmal lbw (probably unlucky but umpire Ian Gauld had a fraction of second to make decision). Younis Khan is at the wicket now, analysing, understanding & calming the nerves of his & team. Pakistan score - 49 for the loss of 1 wicket. Butt strokeful 35 from 37 balls. Run rate is 4 runs per over, lot lower than what it was in first 5 overs.

End of Over 18 - Pakistan 67 for 1. Salman Butt is in control with 45 off 50, timing the ball perfectly on this low-bounce Pitch. For those who don't know, Salman Butt has a batting average of 50.50 against arch-rivals India. Dhoni is changing bowling between Zaheer, RP & Irfan but no spinners so far.

End of Over 23 - both spinners (Harbhajan & Karthik) into the attack and Pakistan have lost Salman Butt, thanks to a run out. Mohammad Yousuf in company with Vice-Captain Younus Khan, who's on 10 off 31. Pak are 83 for lost of 2 wickets. at a run rate of 3.78.

End of Over 30 - Pakistan 104 for 3, as Younus Khan just threw his wicket away. and guess what - Shahid Afridi has come above Misbah-ul-Haq and captain Shoaib Mallik.. probably to hit Indian spinners out of the ground. at a time when spin was doing trick for India.

End of Over 33 : Pakistan 120 for 3. Afridi 10(15) & Yousuf 17(38). tense phase of cricket coming up - Pak looking for quick runs but India not prepared to offer boundaries. 121 balls since last four was hit.

Shahid Afridi seems in great mood. He twice has picked the ball and tossed back to the spinners. Irfan Pathan has been brought back by captain Dhoni.

End of Over 35 : Pakistan 135 for 3. Afridi 20(18) & Yousuf 23(48). Pace from both ends now as Zaheer Khan comes back and hit for first 6 of the match. who else but by Afridi who's off to a start.

Current run rate : 3.857

Pakistan looking for a score in excess of 250. lets see if they get it!

End of Over 38 : Pakistan 135 for 3. Afridi 24(28) & Yousuf 37(55). India have reverted back to spin option with Tendulkar and Muali Karthik, after pace of Pathan and Zaheer were coming nicely for Pakistan batters.

End of Over 41 : Pakistan 168 for 5. Afridi gone, Shoaib Mallik gone. Misbah joining solid Yousuf. Murali Karthik is done for the day, bowled a fine spell of 10-0-36-0. Tendulkar bowling off spin from around the wicket & getting wickets for India. Shoaib Mallik caught at Mid-wicket, after Afridi was stumpped off him.

End of Over 50 : Pakistan make 239 for 7 in their quota of bowling overs.

Salman Butt 50(57), Kamran Akmal 12(30), Younis Khan 25(58), Mohammad Yousuf 83*(88), Shahid Afridi 30(31), Shoaib Mallik 2(7), Misbah-ul-Haq 27(40), Abdur Rehman. For India, Murali Karthik took none for 31 but restricted the scoring. Harbhajan was very hard to pick in his 10 overs.. Zaheer's 50 in 9 overs (1 wicket) & Rudra Pratap's 42 in 8 overs for no wicket were a mixed bag. Surprize bowler was Sachin Tendulkar who bowled. Extras only 9.

Pakistan made 53 in last 6 overs.

End of Over 1 : India 6 for no loss. Ganguly 5(4), Tendulkar 0(2). First over from Shoaib Akhtar in India after a long gap fared - 0,4,0,1,1wd,0,0. He reached 150kmph of speed never the less!

"There are some tigers in the wicket" says commentator and former Pakistan opener Aamir Sohail.. siting the balls keeping low at Nehru stadium. India better make their runs with the new ball as spinners won't be any easy to play.

Ganguly on 20(29) & Gambhir 19(13) with help of one good flick and 2 through the slips.

Rao Ifthikhar Anjum in for Shoaib now! India need 187 from 42 more overs with 9 wickets standing, at 4.47 runs per over.

End of 11 overs : India 60 for 1, needing 180 from 39 overs.

Probably its time for Shoaib to comeback for another short spell or may be Shahid Afridi - the fastish leg spinner. while batting, he looked hungry, so may be Afridi will be more eager when he bowls in this Guwahati ODI. or may be it's time for Ganguly to settle down and score his next century after 2003 world cup where he scored a century against Kenya in semi-finals.

End of 17 overs : India 100 for 1 and driving home this 1st ODI at Guwahati as Ganguly & Gambhir looking to attack. coming down the track, making room & flicking onto the leg side... great Indian batting in display here.

Both spinners in attack now, but will take some time to get their lengths right.

India won this first ODI by 5 wickets & 3 overs to spare. A result not really revealing the ease with which Indians reached the target.
