I'm a spin bowler and I was playing cricket on the weekend and was no-balled for bowling a slow full toss that went just over the waist. I have two questions for you; 1) Is that still a no-ball even though i'm a slow bowler and it was a slow ball; and 2) Can the umpire at the bowlers end call a no ball for height even though the square leg umpire did not? Wouldn't it be difficult for him to judge it? Thanks for your help 2 CommentsBinitHello there, Sweet question! Here's how ICC playing puts it : 1) No, a delivery bowled in cricket, is not a no ball if it was bowled at fairly slow pace by a spin bowler, even though it was over the waist height. A full toss rule for slow bowlers is "over the shoulders" of a batsman, not just over waist height.. one more thing - Umpires have the right to disallow even a slow bowler who is bowling full tosses over batsman's waist height, intentionally! 2) Yes, its dificult for an umpire to judge a deliveries height from the bowling end and its a job of square leg umpire to call no ball for height. That said, yes - main umpire can also call no ball for height! This playing rule pdf file from ICC should give more details if you need. AIThanks...that what i needed :-) Post a new Comment Filed underAsk Binit - Start a New Topic
