I'm travelling around India in October / November and would love to go to a test match whilst there; how I can find out specific dates and locations for the Aus / Eng tours? Also, being a lone female and never having been to a match anywhere other than in England, do you have any advice on things such as best grounds to go to & getting hold of tickets?

Good to see you've done your home work to know that Australian team will be in India for 4 test match (Border Gawaskar trophy) in October 2008 & English team arrives for 3 test match cum 7 ODI series from November 2008 onwards.

Sadly, schedule of both those tours are yet to be fixed by both concerned cricket boards. It should be done by August-September if not in month of July itself... Itsonlycricket tells you by the 2 year experience we have in covering Indian cricket.

Best grounds? well, every single Indian cities where teams like England and Australia will be playing, should be safe & full of cricket enthusiasm. but to mention a few - cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Mohali frequently host high profile cricket matches in India and must get one of the matches we're talking about.
