India - South Africa test series not important for Doordarshan?

Are you hurt by Indian government's decision to not show March - April India-South Africa test series? is it really not that important for Indian viewers?

It is very sad to see that a govenment can behave like this, can speak like this. how can they say that india south africa test series is not an event of national importance? but in doordarshan they show all rubish programmes, serials, which are actually not of any national importance. Most ridiculous thing is that radio will not also commmentry live which they did in england and australia,but they cant for home matches. i think that the government should declare this series as an event of national importance immediately and show live telecast of the series from the 2nd test, if possible the remaining days of the first test in chennai.

See - its a matter of exclusive broadcasting.

Ever since Neosports won rights for cricket matches played in India, they always had to share live feeds with Doordarshan.

Now comes a TEST series (South Africa play no ODIs on this 2008 tour) & Neosports has found a tour which can be made EXCLUSIVE for their channel by Doordarshan not showing it. I'm sure BCCI officials helped them by convincing Indian government for now taking the live feeds for 3 test matches (15x6 = 90hrs of cricket)and pitching the series as NOT OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE..

Its all a ploy, to force cricket fans get Neosports at home. its a ploy against Dish TV (which, unlike Tata Sky, doesn't have it in its package) and also local cable operators who still haven't taken Neosports.

I've been thinking, and have come up with the idea of DD2, DD Metro or may be DD India.. what happened to them?

They were the other channels run by Doordarshan (Prasar Bharti) & were available throughout India both in rural & urban parts. There's still 'DD sports', although I'm not sure it's available all over India, but DD Metro or DD2 did. so does DD News!

Why not show ongoing India South Africa test series on those channels if DD-national doesn't find the cricket series important enough! Problem is more for rural India where cable operators aren't available. we people in urban part can still find a friend or two to catch some live cricket if they get Neosports at their home.. but down Village India - absolutely no option!

When a game like cricket is conidered to be a national sport after the debacle that has happened with hockey and for that when DD has its own sports channel called dd sports y is match not been telecasted even in that.Kindly giv importance to which ever sports that are happening atleast india so that every indian can know the importance of each game that indians play and individuals who represent the national team for the countries pride.

The decision of the government and Prasar Bharti of not showing the Ind vs SA Test Series is just ridiculous.I think DD should take its sports channel DD SPORTS off air because they don't have any sports events to show on it.They are like beggars as they have not got the money to acquire any exclusive rights of any sporting event.They would rather be better of opening a pan shop.
