in a match if there is overthrow then that run goes to extra or to batsman

Unlike 'No ball', 'wide ball' and 'leg bye', Overthrow is no extra in cricket. Run goes in batsman's credit who had played that ball at the strikers end!

Generally batsmen don't run if a throw had hit them but they can.. if the ball goes past the baundary - that's 4 runs in batsman's credit.
